As a Huntsville native, Charlie played for the Green Mountain Cougars, Gators & Sting before joining the Rocket City Kicks, where he won 2 State Championships, representing Alabama at the Region III Championship. He played high school soccer at Grissom High School under Mike Latty, where he won 2 State Championships & received several All-City honors. His playing career continued at Huntington College where he was a Captain.

Upon returning to Huntsville, he trained with semi-professional teams prior to starting his coaching career with the Rocket City Kicks where he helped Rusty Campbell win 2 State Championships, again representing Alabama at the Region III Championship, but this time as a coach. After several years with the RCK, he moved to Indiana where he coached with many of the Indiana University Men’s Soccer coaches at Bloomington Cutters & was an Age Group Director. While there, he worked with Don Madvig, the Hoosiers Goalkeeper Coach for multiple NCAA Div. I National Championships. He was invited by the Indiana University Men’s Soccer staff to coach at the IU Soccer Camps as a Goalkeeper Coach.

After moving to San Diego, California, Charlie became the Director of Coaching for FC Sol in San Marcos. At that time, he also became the Goalkeeper Coach for Cal State San Marcos’s Div. II Mens & Women’s teams. He has been able to train goalkeepers from San Diego Surf, Carlsbad Lightening, LA Galaxy - San Diego & SD Force FC, as well as goalkeepers from a variety of other clubs. While his own children were young & not yet of school age, he took a couple of years off. However, his break was short lived as he was recruited to work with SD Force FC where he was an integral part of tremendous growth within the boys program.

Now he is excited to return to the Huntsville area with his family of six, bringing his knowledge & experience to United Soccer Club where he hopes to build on the success of the club.  Charlie currently holds a USSF C License and a Muelensteen Level 1 certification.
