USC Proud to Announce Two Youth Players have signed with MLS Nashville SC Academy

United Soccer Club is extremely proud to announce the signing of two members of our program, Arnav Maskey of the USC 08 Boys Premier and Diego Ojeda of the USC 07 Boys Premier.

Both boys have signed with the Major League Soccer franchise Nashville SC Youth Academy and are excited to begin training Spring 2021.

Arnav Maskey 08 Boys Premier

Arnav Maskey was born and raised in Madison AL, and attends Discovery Middle School in Madison.  Arnav joined United Soccer Club at the age of 5 years old and has been a part of our program ever since. He has always had a tremendous passion for that game shared with his parents Jenika and Manil Maskey. That passion and commitment has helped Arnav develop his skills and understanding of how to play the game at a very high level.

Soccer is his lifestyle, and if Arnav is not training with his USC teams, he works outside of training every day on ball control, finishing, and fitness/agility and quickness. Some of Arnav’s accolades leading to him to this moment include two trips to Spain to play in youth tournaments at Barcelona FC, and also the MIC, the Mediterranean International Cup, one of the most prestigious and competitive international youth tournaments around the world. This tournament hosts top youth teams from the biggest clubs in the world to include, Barcelona FC, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Juventus and even PSG which Arnav enjoyed the tremendous experience of competing against while being there.

His dedication and lifestyle commitment to soccer are paying off, ultimately in the joy he has playing the game with teammates and coaches he loves. Accolades are also a great joy to experience, so he is completely thrilled to have been selected to join the Nashville SC 08 Boys and looks forward to the tremendous opportunity to train and compete in the top level of youth soccer in the country.

Nashville SC Talent ID Director Kevin Flanagan came to scout USC in training last Fall and identified Arnav as a player they wanted to invite in to trial.  He said “he was the cleanest most technical player on the ball all night, and made excellent decisions with his play”. Arnav’s success at the Fall trials earned him and invite to join the MLS Youth Squad this Spring and he is eager to begin training soon!

We thank Arnav and his family for their dedication and commitment to USC, and we wish them the best of luck and bless them in the exciting adventures ahead.

diego ojeda 07 boys premier

Diego Ojeda was born and raised in Valencia, Venezuela.  The club he played with in Valencia is called Hermandad Gallega de Valencia FC.

He joined United Soccer Club two years ago on the 07B Boys Premier at U11 when his family moved to Huntsville.  He immediately became an impact player adding an excellent standard to the team.

Diego’s father played professional baseball in Venezuela, so athletic talent and drive run through his family genes, and soccer is his lifestyle. Diego wants to play every single day and it shows in his work ethic and attitude on the training pitch and in game play. Diego has played in several MLS Youth Academy matches already with his USC squad and always stood out with unique qualities that showed he could play to a higher level. His USC 07 squad played MLS Atlanta United 07 to a tight game at the U12 age in a 0-0 level match until conceding a 2-0 defeat in the final 8 minutes of the game.

Nashville SC Talent ID Director Kevin Flanagan identified Diego at USC training last Fall and invited him in for Fall trial sessions as well.  After trial evaluations they offered Diego a spot in their youth academy and said, “they really like Diego and want to get him there as soon as possible. They don’t have a player with his qualities in their pool, he’s got a bite to him”.

This is an excellent description of Diego. He is a very technical player, that can make a huge impact in the outcome of game. Probably his best attribute is his physicality of play. He has a tremendous gift of being able to use his body to physically battle for or protect the ball. He is a very driven player with a lot of heart and attitude and we are extremely happy and excited for Diego and his parents Alcides and Jessica Benitez-Ojeda, to see this dream become reality for their son.

Diego will join the Nashville SC 07 Boys Squad and begin full training this Spring.  We thank Diego and his family for their dedication and commitment to USC, and we wish them the best of luck and bless them as well in the exciting adventures ahead.
