Return to Play Guidelines

USC will continue to monitor all COVID-19 recommendations from the AL Dept. of Health, the CDC, and the WHO.  Please help us keep our players and families as safe as possible during these trying times.

Return to Play as of 1/20/2022:
Any athlete testing positive will quarantine for a minimum of 5 days from the onset of symptoms and if all symptoms have resolved and athlete has been fever free for 24 hours, the athlete can return to activity.

Any athlete restricted to quarantine per CDC guidelines, school, etc. must adhere to quarantine guidelines and can return to play if and only if he/she remains asymptomatic for 5 days consecutively.

Please remember, when in doubt, sit out.

USC Return to Play Guidelines

  • WHEN IN DOUBT, SIT OUT.
  • All current ASA, CDC and AL Dept. of Health COVID-19 precautions and policies apply.
  • Take your temperature BEFORE coming to fields.  STAY HOME if you have a 99+ temperature or feel sick.
  • Remind athletes to social distance on the sidelines when not involved in active play.
  • Bring your own water bottle.  NO sharing allowed.
  • Wash your hands before coming to practice and when practice is over.

AL DEPT OF HEALTH EXCLUSION & READMISSION PROCESSES

The AL Dept. of Health has released their Communicable Disease Chart for Alabama's Schools and Childcare Facilities.  While we realize we are not a school or childcare facility, we will use these guidelines as a basis for exposure notification.

If you have a player test positive within TWO DAYS OF BEING AT A USC ACTIVITY, please email admin@unitedsoccerclub.org

  • The Board will send a notification email to your team (and the opponent if necessary), which will let everyone know there has been a positive case within 2 days of a USC activity.
  • Most reports WILL NOT result in a quarantine, exposure notice to the school, or change your plans for practices or games.

Outdoor activities most likely do not result in an "exposure", which by definition is 15 cumulative minutes within 6-feet of the infected person.   If you have questions, we recommend you call your family doctor.   It is simply to be proactive and transparent and keep families as safe as possible.  We appreciate your help and support.

Personal Responsibility Reminders

All families should be familiar with the Return to Play Guidelines set forth by USC, ASA, USYS and the state of AL.

1. DO NOT come to any USC event if you have been feeling sick, or have been experiencing any feverish flu like symptoms or COVID-19 symptoms including cough, sore throat, muscle aches, and/or fatigue.  When in doubt, sit out.

2. DO NOT come to any USC event (athletes and parents) if you have been tested for COVID-19 for any reason and are waiting for results, whether you are asymptomatic or not.

3. DO NOT come to any USC event if you have knowingly been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.  CDC recommendations mandate quarantine for 10 days and then if showing no symptoms, athlete can attend USC events.

Q: "Is my child going to be quarantined and have to miss practices/games if exposed to a positive case of COVID-19 at school or at home?"
A:
USC will remain inline with the current school system protocols based on CDC and ADPH guidelines:
Anyone who is exposed or in the same household as someone who tests positive does not have to quarantine unless they are symptomatic.  Please respect your teammates and coaches and if you feel ill at all, do not attend practice/games.
