United Soccer Club is excited to welcome Coach Wouter "Woody" Lassauw back to the Staff for the 2016/2017 season.

Coach Wouter was born in Steinheim, Germany, however he is Dutch. At the age of 8 Wouter's family moved from the Netherlands to Huntsville until he was 12 while his father Paul Lassauw, a member of the Royal Dutch Air Force, was assigned here on contract. Wouter played soccer for the Kicks FC 93 boys under the tutiledge of his father, and Coach Bob Vayda. They were the 2003 U11 State Champions. He returned to Holland and continued playing soccer with SV Deurne, where he won a Dutch Div 2 Youth Championship. He played with many great players along the way during his career, several of which still play professional at the highest levels.

After his playing career he has transitioned his athletic focus into his newest passion of CrossFit Training. He really likes the drive and mental toughness that CrossFit Training demands of an athlete, and carries over the principles he utilizes in his CrossFit Training to train his soccer players to be physically and mentally fit.

Wouter returned to the States a couple of years ago and coached the USC 03 Boys Premier. Soon thereafter he returned to Holland to finish a degree in International Business and Management and is now back in the Huntsville area. He works as a Manager at CrossFit Nomad in Madison - (this past Spring, he worked with USC Coach/ JP II Girls Varisty Head Coach David Cienfuegos to  provide the Lady Falcons with a pre season training/in season strength and conditioning program that helped them reach the AHSAA Class 4A/5A State Semi Finals).

In the Fall we are very excited to have him coaching the USC 03 Boys Premier, USC 02 Boys Premier, in addition to providing weekly CrossFit Training for the Girls and Boys U16-U20 teams for USC.

This press release on Coach Wouter is the beginning in a series of articles that will be published over the next week informing the community about USC Staff Coaches, as well as new and exciting hires coming to USC for the 2016 season.
