It is with great honor to announce USC 04/05 Boys Premier player, Juan Gazga, as the 2023 @usyouthsoccer Andy Stone Scholarship boy’s recipient representing @alabama_soccer
The Andy Stone Scholarship was set up by the US Youth Soccer South Region to honor the dedication and commitment of Andy Stone, former South Region Director. Andy passed away suddenly in 1998.
Juan just graduated from Sparkman High School, finishing with a 3.40 GPA, all while working to provide for his large family. He is a frequent donor at local charities and volunteers at church to help out those in his community.
He has played for United Soccer Club since age 5 and was a member of the varsity soccer team at each high school he attended -- Jemison, Columbia, and Sparkman. He most recently signed with @susccmsoccer to continue his academic and athletic career.
Coach Rusty Campbell says this about Juan,
“He is the top player in USC History.
His teams have won more state titles, MidSouth Regional Championships and competed successfully against the highest level of competitions in Regional Events, National League and even against MLS Youth Academies.
He has been a tremendous leader for his team and club on and off of the field. He is extremely hard working and responsible. He and his 7 siblings have all done their part to work and help earn money throughout their life to help their mother provide for them as their father passed away several years ago in a freak accident at work. We can’t think of a more deserving young man who can use this scholarship to assist him continue his education.”
Congratulations to Juan on representing USC for this Regional honor.
