By USC, 11/26/19, 6:15PM CST

Meet the USC Boys' Coaches

Since 2007, United Soccer Club continues to offer North Alabama's most competitive program for boys ages 4-18, including North Alabama's only National League team, the USC 05 Boys Premier, along with several Mid-South Regional teams, multiple D1 teams, and various level teams within age groups.
From the U6 Academy to the U19 Boys, our coaches and staff are focused on developing strong, independent, skilled boys who can handle themselves with integrity on and off the field.  USC's Boys' coaches are committed to providing improved player development, increased technical skills, refined tactical understanding, and more, in a constructive environment.  Our coaches are prepared to succeed and fail, challenge and encourage, teach and correct, and develop and nurture all the boys, whether soccer veterans or new to the sport.  If you would like more information on the USC Boys' Program, email and we will put you in touch with the appropriate age group manager.

07BE: The 07 Boys Elite found success on the field at the Battleground Tournament of Champions bringing home a 1st place finish in the U13 Silver Bracket.    Their D2 U13 ASA State League play was highly competitive and provided quite a few challenging games for these boys to compete in.
07B Assistant Coach: Yinka Ajayi

"Coach Rusty is an incredible coach and we feel very fortunate to have him coach our young team this season.  Coach Rusty feels very strongly that the love of the sport and the key fundamentals of the game should be cultivated at a young age.  Our team this year had a lot of new faces join (some first timers to club soccer), so we started the season at a base level.  However, by the end of the season our boys looked like a different team – our passing, ball control, communication on the field, and just all-around confidence improved tremendously.  Coach Rusty is a pro at building upon each practice, game, mistakes and celebrations helping each child realize their potential all for the betterment of the team as a whole."  Meggan Crunkleton, 11B parent

10B/04BP/01/02BP Head Coach: Paul Cano

10B Premier and Elite:   The 2010 boys just completed their third season playing 7v7 and the future is bright with this group.  After coming off a strong Spring season, the team saw 11 new players join team this Fall.  This group of new players added to an already competitive group and pushed the U10 academy to new heights.  Two teams were sent to three tournaments this season winning two medals and placing one team in the semi-finals.  At the Battleground tournament in Nashville, we competed in the Gold and Copper divisions against tough teams from TN and IL with the Elite team bringing home a silver medal in the Copper division.    At the Bash in the Boro tournament in Murfreesboro, one team brought home the gold medal while the other advanced to the semi-finals.  Finally, at the Ala Jr Cup in Decatur, the two teams competed hard on a cold and rainy weekend.  Needing a win in their final game to advance to the finals, the Premier team came up one goal short in a thrilling back and forth 7-7 game.  The coaching staff is excited to continue to work with the team to develop their individual skills and a possession based playing style.

"I will say again.....this season has been great for my son.  He has regained his love for the game again...and for that I am very grateful. " - Kelechi Okwu, 10B Parent

09 Boys Head Coach: Mike Latty

Coach Latty's accolades are a mile long, but his genuine kindness and love for the sport of soccer is what draws USC players to respect him and learn to respect the game.  The U11 Boys have had an outstanding season with Coach Latty at the helm of transitioning into 9v9 play.

The 09B Premier kicked off the season playing in the Scott Gallagher Friendlies in St. Louis, MO where they were met with incredible mid-west competition.  They were finalists in the Gold Division of Battleground Tournament of Champions and have been able to experience competitive play this season by challenging themselves with a rigorous schedule of mostly 08 teams.   09B Elite found their groove learning to incorporate more complicated play and also have taken on (8) 08 teams throughout the season.  09B Select moved into 9v9 seamlessly, playing friendlies and tournaments that challenged them and were rewarding to see all their hard work come together.

Every season the 09 Boys add several new players from all different soccer backgrounds, making the training group that much more competitive and giving all 3 teams greater depth for the rosters.  This age group overall has so much talent that all 3 teams are competing at an incredible level and will continue to attract top 09 players to the program.  These boys continue to challenge each other to be better and the future is bright for this group!

Assistant Coaches:  Grant Kruse, Jose Gonzalez, Angel Ibanez

"The coaches of the 09B program are incredible mentors for these young men.  Not only are they teaching our kids how to play the game, they constantly challenge them to be better on and off the field.  When the soccer is over, the friendships they are forming and life lessons they are learning will be what they remember as adults."  -Meredith Miller, 09B parent

The 05 Boys competed for the third straight year in the MidSouth Conference of the USYS National League and finished with a record of 4-2-1 which will be good enough for at least a top three finish in the league. The team was selected once again to compete in the USYS National League (National Tier) and will travel to Florida twice in the month of December to face teams from New Jersey, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, Nevada and California. Outside of league play, the team successfully defended its State Cup title in November and allowed zero goals across both games played to repeat as Alabama State Champs; a title this team has held three of the last four years.
