Meet the USC Boys' Coaches

Since 2007, United Soccer Club continues to offer North Alabama's most competitive program for boys ages 4-18, including National League teams, along with several Mid-South Regional teams, multiple A teams, and various level teams within age groups.
From the U6 Academy to the U19 Boys, our coaches and staff are focused on developing strong, independent, skilled boys who can handle themselves with integrity on and off the field.  USC's Boys' coaches are committed to providing improved player development, increased technical skills, refined tactical understanding, and more, in a constructive environment.  Our coaches are prepared to succeed and fail, challenge and encourage, teach and correct, and develop and nurture all the boys, whether soccer veterans or new to the sport.  If you would like more information on the USC Boys' Program, email info@unitedsoccerclub.org and we will put you in touch with the appropriate age group manager.

Coach Kassie Duke (U6 Coed Academy)

Coach Kassie is a USC veteran, having played herself for Coach Rusty Campbell.  Kassie then went on to play college women's soccer at the University of Mobile in Mobile, AL and moved back to North Alabama where she is an elementary school teacher at Lacey's Spring Elementary and also coaches basketball.

Assistant Coach: Kelsie Shields

The U6 Academy focused on footwork, ball control, passing, dribbling, and shooting this fall.  Small sided games keep the U6 moving and lots of balance and coordination games prepare these players for a long career in soccer.

Coach Leo Santin

Coach Leo is excited to be back leading the U7/8 Academy!   His infectious personality and dedication to fundamentals make athlete's time in the Academy not only fun, but productive.  Athletes can expect to work on individual skills, passing, dribbling, shooting, and decision making.  U8 will play 4v4, but will introduce the concepts of 7v7 for moving up to the U9 age division.

Coach Leo hails from Brazil and enjoys adding cultural experiences into training for the athletes!  From a practice barefoot to Brazilian lasagna, you never know what Coach Leo will mix it up with!

Coach Leo was awarded Alabama Soccer Association's 2021 Competitive Boys' Coach of the Year and then went on to be awarded US Youth Soccer's 2021 Southern Regional Competitive Boys' Coach of the Year.

Josh Shields, Jared Keesee, Paul Cano Yinka Ajayi

"Coach Rusty is an incredible coach and we feel very fortunate to have him coach our young team this season.  Coach Rusty feels very strongly that the love of the sport and the key fundamentals of the game should be cultivated at a young age.  Our team this year had a lot of new faces join (some first timers to club soccer), so we started the season at a base level.  However, by the end of the season our boys looked like a different team – our passing, ball control, communication on the field, and just all-around confidence improved tremendously.  Coach Rusty is a pro at building upon each practice, game, mistakes and celebrations helping each child realize their potential all for the betterment of the team as a whole."  Meggan Crunkleton, 11B parent

Coach Mike Latty

Coach Latty's accolades are a mile long, but his genuine kindness and love for the sport of soccer is what draws USC players to respect him and learn to respect the game.  His presence on and off the field is a calming force for any team he coaches, boys or girls.

"The coaches of the 09B program are incredible mentors for these young men.  Not only are they teaching our kids how to play the game, they constantly challenge them to be better on and off the field.  When the soccer is over, the friendships they are forming and life lessons they are learning will be what they remember as adults."  -Meredith Miller, 09B parent
