            <title>U9s Find Success at Governor&apos;s Cup</title>

<p><span 12pt; FONT-SIZE:>The United 01 Boys Rowdies were Champions of the red division in the Governor's Cup state tournament. The boys had a strong weekend going undefeated in round robin play over 4 games. They had wins over Vestavia 7-4, River City 5-0, Coosa Storm 6-5, and a tie with Tuscaloosa 2-2.</p>

<p><span 12pt; FONT-SIZE:>The United 01 Boys Comets were Finalists of the green division in the Governor's Cup state tournament. The boys had a great showing in their bracket compiling a 2-1 record over 3 games in round robin play.  They had wins over Tuscaloosa 4-3, Homewood 4-0, and a narrow loss to the eventual champions,EYSA Pumas 1-0.  With several absences, the team had to battle all weekend with 6 players making the result even more impressive.  USC would like to congratulate both teams on their success in their first state tournament and wish them continued success in the future. </p>

            <title>USC 97 Boys Take Championship at Germantown</title>

<form class="mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image" mt:asset-id="15">The 97 Boys brought home the Championship winning the Silver Division in the 2009 Germantown Invitational tournament in Memphis, TN.&nbsp; The team defeated Mississippi Fire 2-0 and MidSouth FC 1-0 in group play.&nbsp; They had a come from behind victory against Pride Fusion 2-1 in the semi-final and won the final match against Louisiana Fire 1-0.&nbsp; The team fought extremely hard all weekend to come away with the victory medals.&nbsp; USC would like to congratulate the 97 Boys on their Championship at Germantown in addition to their successful campaign this Fall.</p></form>]]></description>

            <title>USC U10 Boys Cosmos Take the Championship in Birmingham Bash Tourney</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<span FONT-SIZE: 12pt; ><img style="MARGIN: 0px 20px 20px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px" class="mt-image-left" alt="00%20Boys%20Cosmos.jpg" src="http://www.unitedsoccerclub.org/images/00%20Boys%20Cosmos.jpg" width="400" height="300" />The United 00 Boys Cosmos went undefeated at the the Fall 2009 Birmingham Bash with a 4 - 0 record winning the Silver division. The Cosmos offensive and defensive play was solid scoring a remarkable 42 goals while allowing only 2.  They also recorded 3 shutouts over the 4 games in the tournament. This is the Cosmos first season as a team with United and we wish them much success in the future.

            <title>United Teams Find Success in Queen City Classic</title>

<p>Congratulations to the 01 Boys Hardrollers and the 98 Lady Hardrollers for taking home the championships in there respective divisions at the Queen City Classic in Clarksville, TN. The 01 Boys went undefeated in 3 games&nbsp;with victories over the Clarksville Royals, Wolves, and Smyrna Rapids scoring an impressive 16 goals while only giving up 3.</p>

<p>The 98 Girls won their division going undefeated as well with wins over the TNFC Thunder 3-0, Lady Kaos 2-1, and the Lady Wolves 5-0.&nbsp; This is the second year in a row the girls have taken the championship in this tournament. USC would like to congratulate the teams on their great performance in this tournament and wish them continued success throughout the year.</p>

            <title>Alex Garcia Remains in the Hearts of the United Family</title>

<p>The United Family suffered a tragic&nbsp;loss this past Monday with the passing of Alex Garcia.&nbsp; Alex was a player on the 98 Boys team who had a passion for the game of soccer as well as for his family and friends.&nbsp; He was&nbsp;a great kid as well as a great player.&nbsp; Please keep the family of Alex Garcia in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.</p>

<p>There will be a visitation held in Scottsboro&nbsp;at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 17205 Al Highway 35, Scottsboro, AL 35768-6773, (256) 574-6156, on Wednesday (9/2/09) from 5 to 8pm.&nbsp; The funeral is scheduled for Thursday morning.</p>

            <title>United 98 Lady Hardrollers are Champions at the Lanier Academy Cup</title>

<p><span>The United 98 Lady Hardrollers found success in the Lanier Academy Cup tournament in Georgia this past weekend.&nbsp; The team took 1st place in the Elite Division with impressive play on both ends of the field outscoring opponents 11-0 over 4 games.&nbsp; The girls had wins over the Lanier Sharks, Cherokee Impact, and Atlanta Soccer Academy Extreme in round robin play.&nbsp; They defeated the Cherokee Impact 2-0 in the final match to take the championship.&nbsp; The United family would like to congratulate the Lady Hardrollers and the guest players from the USC 98 Power team for their strong performance in this tournament and wish them success for the remainder of their season.</span></font></p></form>]]></description>

            <title>United Day Kickoff a Success</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<span color="#000000" <font 12pt; FONT-SIZE:><img style="MARGIN: 0px 20px 20px 0px; WIDTH: 430px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 299px" class="mt-image-left" alt="unitedday2009b.jpg" src="http://www.unitedsoccerclub.org/unitedday2009b.jpg" width="480" height="344" />United’s annual kickoff party was a great success by all accounts.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>The assortment of food was both diverse and appetizing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>Kids and parents alike enjoyed the food, moon bounce, slide, snow cones, and music.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>And of course, the soccer was fun as pickup games continued throughout the day.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Also, United families donated 222 pounds of food for the North Alabama Food Bank.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>This equates to about 180 meals!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>This kind of support shows how the club is committed to helping our community.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>USC would like to thank everyone for making this day a huge success.             <title>United Soccer Club Obtains Its 501(c)(3) Status</title>
            <description><![CDATA[United Soccer Club has received notification from the IRS that it has obtained its 501(c)(3) status.&nbsp; This status makes United eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions that will aide in the successful future of the club.&nbsp; The status is effective June 1, 2007, which is the date&nbsp;the club&nbsp;was established.&nbsp; The United organization considers this a great milestone for the club at this time.&nbsp; United would like to recognize Beth Lumb, the club treasurer, for her tireless effort and attention to detail making this achievement possible for United Soccer Club.]]></description>

            <title>Corey Overstreet</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Corey was born in Montgomery, AL and has over 19 years of playing, coaching, and refereeing soccer experience.&nbsp; Corey started playing club soccer at the age of 8 with the Invaders where the team made it to the state finals. &nbsp;Over the years he has played with the Green Mountain Cougars, Hi Energy, Blue Lasers, and Rocket City Kicks. </p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>In 1999, Corey made the Alabama ODP team and traveled to Amsterdam playing in the Haarlem Cup.&nbsp; Corey attended Grissom High School where he was team captain for two years, selected twice to All-State teams, and was on the 2002 team that was a Finalist in the AHSAA State Tournament.&nbsp; He also played in the North-South All-Star game for the state of Alabama.&nbsp; Corey started&nbsp;coaching in 1998 as an assistant&nbsp;to his father who coached youth teams.&nbsp; After graduating from the University of Alabama with a BS in Biology in 2008, Corey came back to Huntsville and joined the United Soccer Club coaching staff as an assistant coach&nbsp;for the&nbsp;98 Boys team. </p>]]></description>

            <title>Erin Bunyard</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Erin began playing soccer at age 4 and her club experience soon followed&nbsp;at age 9.&nbsp; At a young age, she took to the defensive strategy of the game, and has had the privilege of playing&nbsp;competitively in every position within the defensive third of the field.&nbsp; By age 12, she was captain of the ’87 Rampage team, winner of 5 consecutive State Championships.&nbsp; </p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Erin was a starter on the Bob Jones Varsity Girls squad for 4 years and was captain for 2 of those.&nbsp; Her junior year at Bob Jones, the Lady Patriots took home their first state title.&nbsp; High school acknowledgements include: Best Newcomer (Fr.), Best Defender (Soph.), Huntsville Times Player of the Year (Jr.), All-State (Jr.), Gatorade MVP (Jr.), Lady Patriot MVP (Sr.).&nbsp; </p>

<p>After high school, Erin had the opportunity to further her career at the University of Southern Mississippi (Conference USA).&nbsp;&nbsp; Continuing to play in the defense, Erin played all 4 years, earning Coach’s Player of the Year&nbsp;her sophomore year&nbsp;and USM's&nbsp;highest honor, the Lady Eagle Award, her senior year.&nbsp; After completing her senior season for USM, Erin started her coaching career as Assistant Coach for the Hattiesburg High Girls Varsity squad.&nbsp; Erin began coaching with United Soccer Club in 2008&nbsp;working with&nbsp;the U18 and U10 Girls’ teams.&nbsp; </p>]]></description>
