USC Staff Director, Coach Phil Moyer

USC Coach and Director, Phil Moyer is a Huntsville native. He has been playing soccer in the area since the age of 10. He played high school soccer at Grissom High School winning a State Championship in 1992 under the coaching of Mike Latty. He continued playing soccer in college at Belhaven College in Jackson, MS. While at Belhaven, he helped the team make it to the Semi-Finals at the National Tournament in 1993 as well as earn a #1 NAIA National Ranking going into the National Tournament in 1994. His collegiate honors include 2 years on the All Conference Team, 1 year on the All Region Team, and Honorable Mention All-American. Phil continued playing Amateur and Professional soccer after college at: 

  • Amateur - Brilla FC – team that is involved with summer ministry tours and camps out of Jackson, MS
  • Semi-Professional - Birmingham Grasshoppers, Jackson Chargers (USISL)
  • Professional Experience - Charlotte Eagles (A- League), Carolina Dynamo (D3)

During his post college playing career had the opportunity to play against many high level players and teams. One of the most exciting playing memories in his career came on a tour to Brasil, where he was able to play in a game at the Teresópolis National Team Camp vs the Brasilian U17 National Team which featured young stars Robinho (former Santos FC star, Brasilian National Team, as well as Real Madrid FC/AC Milan), and Diego (former Santos FC, Brasil National Team, and Porto FC/Juventus).


Phil’s coaching experience includes 3 years as the head coach of the Belhaven College Men’s Program as well as 1 year as the assistant. In addition, he has coached 9 years at Jackson Futbol Club in Jackson, MS. During his time at JFC, he helped coach teams to 9 Mississippi State Championships. He has been at United Soccer Club for the last 10 years leading and coaching soccer in the community. He was one of the Staff Coaches for the USC 96 Boys Premier who won the 2013/14 U18 DI Boys ASA State Championship. He is Coach of the USC 06 Boys Academy, and also serves the club as a Staff Director for United Soccer Club and helps lead and provide the vision and perspective for the club. He, his wife Amanda (who also played college Soccer at Belhaven College), and their two sons, Pierson (USC 06 Boys) and Payne (USC/MLSA 08 Boys) reside in Huntsville.
