The USC 98 Boys Premier made it to the finals of the U17 Division I Championship at the AYSA State Cup Final Four November 15-16 in Montgomery.

In the quarter-final match played the weekend before at Jack Allen, the team defeated Vestavia Steamers Black II 3-1. The semifinal match didn't prove to be as easy. The match was an absolute battle ending 1-1 in regulation, with USC scoring in the first overtime period, only to have Homewood equalize with 1 minute left in the second overtime. The game would go on to PK's, which the team won on the shoulders of 2 PK saves by goalkeeper, Jackson Hannan. Alexis Arriaga had both goals during the game.

The finals proved to be a tough match versus the toughest team the boys had faced all season, defending champions Vestavia Black. The score was 1-0 at half and very competitive on both sides. Unfortunately, Vestavia put one in early in the second half and ended on a PK as time expired. This is the first year for the team to make it to the State Cup finals after making it to the semi-finals the previous two years.

Coach Trevor recapped the season:
The season started strong getting some quality results in Atlanta and the group continued improving from there. Through 13 games, we remained unbeaten.  This included wins over Concorde Fire, winners of the U16 Disney Showcase and GA State Champs, a 2-1 win over Hoover for the first time in over 3 years, and a 1-0 win over Region 3 opponent Homewood. We dominated state league, finishing on top and racking up 21 goals for versus just 3 against.

Overall, this group has come a long way from the first practice of the season. The quality of soccer has improved drastically, and we look to continue that trend going into the CASL showcase as well as next season's challenge of Region 3 Premier League.

The United family would like to congratulate Coach Trevor and the 98 Boys Premier team on a very successful season!
