David Cienfuegos

David Cienfuegos was born in Boston, but moved with his parents at the early age of 4 to Birmingham, AL.  His parents, being from Colombia and El Salvador, naturally wanted him to play futbol and signed him up with Vestavia Hills Soccer Club in 1995.  He was a part of the competitive soccer club from 1998-2003 where his team would be state finalist every year.  David was also part of the '85 Boys Alabama State ODP team from 1999 until 2003.  He was part of the team that beat North Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Tennesee, and lost in a close match to the favorite North Carolina team 1-0.  During high school, David played for John Carroll Catholic where he would be part of the 2000 class 5A championship team; playing all 4 years at the Varsity level.  David received a partial scholarship to Brevard College in North Carolina and played for 2 seasons under coach Michael Louter (former Alabama ODP director) and played one season for UAH in 2005.

The past three years (2008-2010) David has assisted coach Craig Maples and the Grissom Lady Tigers soccer program to a state finalist, semi-finalist and quarterfinalist appearance for 6A girls soccer.

This will be David's second year as a United Soccer Club coach after his first successful season with the U-10 girls SkyBlue team last fall and spring.
